Baby...IT's COLD Outside

Brrrrrrrr!
Right now, at this moment, it is -18 degrees with a windchill of -34 degrees....I am hoping and praying that all the animals that HAVE to be outside, are protected! I've been feeding a field cat since late summer....I have tried to get her/him to get close....but runs at every little noise. I can watch him eat thru the patio door and he's okay with that. If he is under the decks outside...maybe he can get a small amount of warmth from the heat ducks on the crawlspace....I worry about him! And all of the other animals that have to be out!

And with the wind chills we've been having....I have to go out 2-3 times a day to give the chickens fresh water. They do not come out of their coop when there is snow on the ground. Even with the heat lamp in there with them, their water freezes over quickly. And we can forget about collecting eggs right now.....Had to actually buy store bought and believe me THEY are not the SAME as FRESH!

The coop Before this last snow.... Clohe, Ruby and Pepper

STAY SAFE and STAY WARM!

Burr! It's sooo cold here too! Gotta put bird seed out this afternoon. My wolf dogs and cats are in most of the day. So unusal for the dogs so you know its cold.
My chickens are still laying. I'm getting 5-6 eggs a day. I have a heatlamp that they stand under during the feezing days and I have a water warmer to keep their water from freezing. Every thing at my place is spoiled!

My grandfather used to raise chickens. They were high maintenance in the winter, but definitely worth the effort:) Yours are just adorable!!!

We're in the deep freeze, too. I have a feral cat that I feed, too, and he hangs out in my shed when the weather's bad. He won't come near me, but I made sure there are a couple cozing nesting spots for him. I noticed he's gotten so furry, so I think he's growing the coat he needs to keep warm.

Stay safe!

thank you for the sweet comment on my blog. I will pass it on to Cory :)
I love your header photo and have to giggle at the ferral cat you have... I have one too and he finally decided that I am worthy of his attention. every day when I feed him he lets me hold his bowl so he does not knock it down and he will climb up on me and cuddle for a bit after he eats... he finally learned how to purr and as long as I let him stay on me for as long as HE wants I am ok but days like today where 30 minutes have gone by and I am frozen stiff except for where he he laying then he gets mad at me and swats and bites if he can get ahold of me anywhere. then when I come in he stands at the door for a few minutes and MEows his displeasure at me. It does tickle me that he decided I am his human however. LOL. keep working with your kitty he will eventually give in to his curiosity and you will then be his human forever.

Thanks for stopping by my blog. As for the ferrel cats...I have been known to set up a plastic tub laid on its side. Then, I place a heating pad on the bottom with a few old towels or blankets. Along side is a big ole bowl of cat food.

After reading about your wind chill I really had to laugh about the "weather" we are enjoying here in Georgia! We have no right to whine...ever! Love your pics! Stay warm!
